1: What is the dress code
for men and women in Iran?
A: Both men and women are
kindly requested to wear modest cloths. Ladies are requested to
wear a head scarf
2: What are the business
hours for restaurants in Iran?
A: Street restaurants are
different from hotels and work between 9.00 AM to 12.30 PM and 4:00 PM to
8:00 PM.
3: Can I use my cellular
phone in Iran?
A: All GSM based Cell
phone users whose service provider is outside Iran, may be able to use
their phones while in Iran, using the available local Sim Cards. You will
also need to check this with your network administrator to see if they
provide roaming services for your phone.
4: Can I visit a Holy
Shrine without being dressed in the Islamic dress code?
A: For visiting a Holy
Shrine the dress code for both men and women should be a modest
one. Ladies are requested to wear a head scarf. Only hands
and face may be visible.
5: Can I enter a Mosque or
a Shrine with my shoes?
A: You may enter with
shoes only in the parts which have no carpets. If the site is
covered with carpet then you should take off your shoes.
6: Can I eat in public
during the day in the fasting month?
A: As a sign of respect it
is recommended to observe the fasting rules and not to eat in public
(restaurants in hotels are the exception to this rule and you may have
your meal in those restaurants during the day).
7: Can women swim in public
pools and in the sea?
A: Both for public swimming
pools and for the sea women are only allowed to swim in the women's
sections which are separated from the men's sections. In this regard most
swimming pools have two sections.
8- How long does it take to get
my visa?
A: In usual
circumstances, for non American passport holders, it may take 14 working
days to get the landing permission, subject to the approval of Iranian
Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For American passport holders, it may take
up to 25 days.
9- I have traveled to Israel and have Israeli stamp in my passport,
can I travel to Iran?
A: In accord with the instructions from the Iranian Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, if your traveling to Israel has taken place six months or more,
prior to making your visa application, you may apply for an Iranian visa.
If your trip to Israel has occurred less than six months from the time
you apply for an Iranian visa, then you cannot make the application, and
have to wait as necessary, to fit into the first part of the instruction
here.
10- I am an American citizen and
have arranged my visa through a travel agent in Iran. Can I continue my
journey on my own, and after entering Iran without following the
itinerary that my travel agent has given me?
A: No. Currently, American
citizens who get their visas with the help of an Iranian travel agent,
MUST strictly adhere to the itinerary that they have been given prior to
obtaining their landing permission.
11- I want to study in Iran. Can
I convert my tourist visa to a student visa, without leaving the country?
A: It is up to
the Immigration Department to grant the permission or not. We recommend
that you let your travel agent know what type of visa are you looking
for, so that your application is processed correctly.
12- Can I use my credit card in
Iran?
A: In general,
credit cards are not widely accepted in Iran. However, rules differ from
one city to another. We recommend that you check with us at the time of
reservation, so that we can advise you if there are any changes to this
rule.
